Layouts

The club currently follows two modular standards. Club members also own their own layouts. Please contact us if you would like to book any of them for your own model railway exhibition.

N-MOD MODULAR SYSTEM

Our original modular system, originated from the American N-Trak system. It started with a three track system, then added a fourth track.

A large modular circuit makes quite a spectacle, with four trains on the move. At exhibitions, we may try and keep to a theme, but other times anything goes – watch Thomas overtake the Japanese bullet train!

N-CLUB INTERNATIONAL MODULAR SYSTEM

The N-club modular system is double-tracked, and designed to be a more flexible system than N-mod.

We have a number of N-club modules complete, and junction and transition boards that allow us to link N-mod and N-club systems together.

This is the modular system used at Stuttgart.

ALPENBAHN

The Alpenbahn modular system was the brainchild of ESNG and models a length of open main line in alpine Germany. A number of members contributed modules to the system and Alpenbahn made a number of successful exhibition appearances.

The Alpenbahn system is now curated by a club member and is still available for exhibitions, and now features DCC control and automation.

DREIBRUKEN

We have also built two club layouts. One, Dreibruken, was been a great success and was widely exhibited.

The layout also appeared in Continental Modeller in 2005.

Unfortunately, the ‘old lady’ is now past it and has reluctantly been retired. The other, Reigate, was less successful, but we learnt a lot in the process!
